They offer hair extensions, African braiding and dreadlocks, fashion and medical wigs, and more. At the heart of their offerings are superior European luxury hand-tied Remi wefts crafted from 100% Remi human hair, with cuticles aligned for smoothness and longevity.

The client was looking to expand brand awareness and reach by attracting more local enquiries.

THE CHALLENGE

CitiHair Extensions approached us with the goal of strengthening their local presence in Melbourne’s competitive hair and beauty market. While the salon had an established reputation for quality services, their online visibility was not fully aligned with their business growth ambitions.

The key challenges were:

  • Boosting local visibility and traffic – The website needed to attract significantly more Melbourne-based visitors, with a target of increasing local traffic by over 50% within 12 months.
  • Improving SEO performance and conversions – CitiHair Extensions wanted not just more traffic, but more relevant local traffic that would lead to enquiries and bookings. The goal was a 50% lift in local SEO traffic and conversions over the same period.
  • Driving more inbound leads – Increasing customer enquiries through the website was a top priority. This included raising both phone calls and enquiry form submissions by at least 75% within 12 months.

To tackle these challenges, we developed a comprehensive local SEO strategy designed to boost visibility, attract the right audience, and convert visitors into enquiries and bookings. ORGANIC SEO

After comprehensive competitor research, we started on keyword selection. We examined the data on hundreds of potential keywords and finalised a list of 20 locally focused keywords with potential buying signals, keeping in mind industry trends and target audience.

WEBSITE AUDIT

Our initial audit of CitiHair’s website highlighted several areas that required improvement to support both SEO performance and user experience. Based on these findings, we implemented a comprehensive on-page optimisation strategy.   • Adding a short name to improve listing accessibility.
  • Correcting the location and service area details to accurately reflect where the salon operates.
  • Verifying and updating all contact details and website URLs.
  • Showcasing products and services directly in the profile.
  • Optimising the business description with locally relevant keywords.
  • Uploading photos and videos to highlight the brand, while also advising the client on the importance of engaging with customer reviews.

These improvements helped ensure that CitiHair Extensions appeared more prominently in local searches and presented a complete, trustworthy profile to potential clients.

ON-PAGE OPTIMIZATION

To boost the search visibility of our chosen keywords, we carried out a comprehensive on-page optimisation process. Targeted service pages were refined with engaging, locally focused content designed to resonate with CitiHair’s key audience and capture Melbourne-based search intent.

Beyond content improvements, we addressed a range of technical factors that directly impact Google rankings. This included optimising meta titles and descriptions, implementing schema mark-ups, improving image optimisation, strengthening inter-page linking, and fixing broken links. We began with a full audit of CitiHair’s backlink profile, identifying and disavowing low-quality or spammy links that could negatively impact search performance. From there, we developed a targeted off-page optimisation plan focused on building authority and trust.

This plan combined content marketing initiatives with a strategic backlink acquisition approach, securing high-quality links from relevant sources and strengthening the website’s presence through directory submissions and local listings. THE RESULTS

WEBSITE TRAFFIC

Over the 12-month campaign, CitiHair Extensions experienced significant improvements in both traffic quality and lead generation.

  • Overall traffic growth – Website traffic increased by 32.44%, supported by a sharp drop in bounce rate of 84.54%, indicating that visitors were more engaged and aligned with the services offered.
  • Conversions and enquiries – Goal completions (contact form enquiries and phone calls) rose by nearly 156%, with website enquiries alone growing by 154% and the overall goal completion rate improving by 78.53%.
  • Local audience growth – More than 77% of the total traffic growth came from Melbourne-based users. Local traffic itself grew by 58%, while the bounce rate for local users fell by an impressive 87%, down to just 1.43%. These results confirm that the campaign successfully connected with the right audience.
  • Google Business Profile impact – The fully optimised Google Business Profile generated over 240,000 views across branded, indirect, and discovery searches, with more than 212,000 views from Maps and Search listings. This led to 3,716 website visits and 1,161 phone calls directly from the profile.
  • Keyword rankings and organic traffic – Rankings improved across all targeted keywords, driving a 59% increase in organic traffic. Of the 20 location-focused keywords, 16 achieved top-three positions, with the remaining four in the top 10-resulting in a 19% boost in overall search visibility.

These results highlight how targeted local SEO strategies not only drove more traffic but also dramatically increased enquiries and client engagement, translating into measurable business growth for CitiHair Extensions.

LEAD GENERTION

A core focus of the campaign was to boost inbound enquiries through both phone calls and contact form submissions. The results exceeded expectations across every metric:

  • Enquiry form submissions grew by 385.45%, supported by a conversion rate increase of more than 210%.
  • Phone calls surged by over 490%, with the conversion rate improving by 280%.
  • The bounce rate dropped by 88.72%, ensuring visitors engaged more deeply with the site.
  • Overall, goal completions increased by 148.92%, while the total goal conversion rate rose by 62.34%.

These improvements demonstrate how aligning SEO, UX, and local optimisation directly translated into stronger lead generation and measurable business growth for CitiHair Extensions.

FINAL ANALYSIS

Over the 12-month campaign, CitiHair Extensions experienced substantial growth across local website traffic, SEO performance, and search visibility within the Melbourne market. These improvements translated into significant increases in tangible customer interactions, including enquiry form submissions and incoming phone calls. The campaign successfully strengthened CitiHair’s position as a leading local service provider in their niche.

In addition, we implemented a targeted backlink strategy to enhance the website’s authority and trustworthiness.
